The William Dennis Memorial Golf Tournament
September 10, 2009 @ Chester Golf Club
The Cause
William Dennis, a young man full of promise and passion, was just getting started in life when he passed away suddenly and unexpectedly at age 30 due to complications relating to an epileptic seizure in August, 2002.
To honour his memory, the William Dennis Fund was created. The goal of the fund is to improve the quality of treatment for children with Epilepsy. A primary initiative is the establishment of William Dennis Chair in Pediatric Epilepsy Research at the IWK Children's Hospital and The Fund reached a milestone in 2007 with the appointment of Dr. Michael Esser to the Chair, with another milestone in 2009 marking the full endowment of the chair.
A major fundraising initiative for The Fund is the William Dennis Memorial Golf Tournament. We strive to create a tournament that would have made Will proud and we hope that all the participants have a joyous time remembering Will and supporting The Fund!
The 2008 tournament, the 5th annual, raised over $33,000 for The William Dennis Fund.
The true beneficiaries of the William Dennis Memorial Golf Tournament are Maritime children suffering with epilepsy and the adults they will become. With each passing generation, the benefits of the William Dennis Fund will support healthier children, better communities and brighter futures.
